Alexandra Debra-Marie Ramos

Baby Allie has arrived! 7 lbs 2 oz 19 inches long. June 23rd 12:54 pm. She is very healthy and loves to sleep. I started contractions over 6 weeks ago. Once Allie was full term they just said come in when the contractions are painful regular and 4 minutes apart. So wednesday (yesterday the 23rd) morning I woke up to a painful contraction around 6 am. Then at 7 we started to time them and by 8 we knew we were in labor. Luckily we called Jonathan's mom (and thankfully she was able to come) just in time because she was arriving as we were leaving for the hospital. The contractions were 4 minutes apart and unbearably painful. But by the time we got to the hospital (about a 20 minute drive)the contractions had slowed and even become irregular - although still intensely painful. We realized that on the way Pamela had been drinking water and resting and that we should probably wait for them to build back up again. So we drove home and relaxed. After about an hour and a half of random contractions (up to 20 minutes apart) Pamela had 3 in a row 3 minutes apart. By the last one Pamela said, "we need to go to the hospital now." 24 minutes later Allie was born. We drove as quick as possible to the hospital and the contractions became all lumped together as one. The pain was constant and the only way I could tell the beginning of a new contraction was that I could feel Allie start to push her way through the birth canal! Jonathan pulled up to the front and grabbed a wheel chair. While waiting for me to get out of the car i yelled, "I need help! I am giving birth now!" That's when a loving husband picked me up and wheeled me in. I was practically delirious with pain. They through me on the hospital bed, and told me not to push until the dr came. Luckily that was very soon and with 90 seconds of pushing Allie was born! It was incredible. Giving birth without an epidural was well worth it. (I think I can only say that because it was less than a half an hour, but its true) Everything was so real and painful. I had really suffered for Allie, and all the stuff that came next was such a breeze. I've been feeling great since she was born and I am grateful that i got to really be a part of the birth. We are grateful that we made it to the hospital on time, that Jonathan's mom is watching Isaac and that she could come on such short notice, we're Jonathan's breaks went out last week instead of yesterday and of course, that Allie is healthy and here with us! Isaac doesn't seem to like her but it would be hard to understand why mommy is on a bed with a little wiggler and won't hold you. He'll get used to her, and if he doesn't we'll just spoil him and he can get over it.
